The Man Behind The Name
Andy Cobus, the brains behind Timber Valley Post and Beam, has been in the home building and renovation industry for over 30 years. His company, previously “Andrew Cobus Construction”, is a familiar name in Arnprior and the rest of the Ottawa Valley. His beautiful timber frame work can even be found as far away as Korea – he was selected to build a custom timber frame for a home to be exported by DAC International. In fact, DAC president Jeff Armstrong was so impressed with Andy’s work that he enlisted him to craft the timber frame for his own custom dream home in West Carleton.
Andy’s love of building started as a child. Growing up on a farm, he quickly became enthralled with the structure of the barns and haylofts he played in. Wood was a medium that appealed to him greatly. As he got older, he discovered that building was in his DNA – much of his family had immigrated from Europe, and put their many talents to work in the building industry. With such a wealth of knowledge around him, it was only natural that he follow in their footsteps to become a builder.
As he honed his skills and grew his company, he found himself increasingly drawn to the beauty and honesty of timber frame construction. As the popularity of new timber frame construction expanded, he decided to focus on building timber frame homes specifically. After many years of work building custom timber frame homes, in 2016, he decided to change the company name to better reflect that focus.
